boulderbar Wienerberg grades, explained
boulderbar Wienerberg opened in 2017 in an industrial zone on the edge of Vienna, in the 10th district (Favoriten). It has about 1,100 m² of floor space and 1,100 m² of climbing surface, walls up to 4.5 m, a Moonboard, a 10×10 Kilter Homewall, a kids' area, a training area, and a bar with a terrace behind a glass wall you can boulder along. Parking is free for 5 hours.
Bouldering grades
Each boulder uses holds of a single colour. The start holds carry signs that show the grade on a Fontainebleau-based scale: 3, 4A, 4B, 4C, 5A … 8A+, 8B. Boulders marked '?' instead of a grade involve unusual movement that is hard to grade. The gym suggests beginners start on boulders marked 4.
