Boulderwelt Karlsruhe grades, explained

Boulderwelt Karlsruhe opened on 24 September 2022 on the third floor of a building on Europaplatz in central Karlsruhe; the Europaplatz/Postgalerie stop is at the door. It has about 2,000 m² of floor space, 1,000 m² of bouldering surface and over 250 boulders on walls about 4 m high, in two bouldering areas, plus a Kilter Board, a café looking onto the main area and a small shop.

Bouldering grades

Boulders are graded in nine levels, 1 (easy) to 9 (very hard). Each level covers a Fontainebleau range. The level number is printed on round cards: two cards mark the start holds and one marks the top. Hold colour says nothing about difficulty. Boulders on the competition wall also get an individual Font grade.
