Camp5 grades, explained
Camp5 is a Malaysian climbing gym group (Camp Five (M) Sdn Bhd) that opened its first gym at 1 Utama Shopping Centre in 2005. It runs six gyms: five in the Klang Valley (1 Utama, KL Eco City, Jumpa at Sungei Wang Plaza, KL East and the bouldering-only Utropolis) and one at Paradigm Mall in Johor Bahru. Every outlet uses the same colour tags, each covering a range of grades, and the exact grade of each climb is listed on TheRouteList, a route-logging site Camp5 built. Multigym memberships cover all outlets.
Bouldering grades
Each boulder is tagged with one of eight colours. Each colour covers a band of about three V-grades, and neighbouring colours overlap, as drawn on Camp5's 'Boulder Grades' chart. The exact grade of each climb is listed on TheRouteList (QR code on the wall).

| BlackThe chart's top label is V8+, so Black runs on from there. | V6–V8 | 6C+–7B+ |
Rope climbing grades
Top-rope and lead routes use the same eight colour tags, each covering a band of French sport grades with overlaps, per Camp5's 'Rope Grades' chart. Camp5 says it uses the French system for roped routes.

| BlackThe chart's top label is 8a+, so Black runs on from there. | 7c–8a+ | 5.12d–5.13c |
Camp5 uses this grading at all its gyms. From the gym's own grading guide. Gyms reset and regrade often, and grades vary between setters, so treat this as a guide and check the boards when you visit.
