La Sportiva Miura VS review: fit, sizing and what climbers say
A stiff, downturned triple-Velcro edging machine on the P3 platform with XS Edge rubber, updated in 2023 with a softer, more sensitive heel. Buy it for technical face climbs, small edges and pockets from vertical to gently overhanging, not for cracks or toe-hook-heavy bouldering.

Size down about one size from your street shoe
For a snug all-round fit, a street UK 9 (EU 43) is a UK 8 (EU 42) in the Miura VS. Go half a size smaller for hard bouldering, or bigger for long days. It's a starting point: feet differ, so try them on if you can.

How the Miura VS fits
- Heel
- Thick, well-placed heel rubber; the 2023 version uses softer heel rubber for more feel. Some testers had slight heel slip.
- Toe box
- Toe box is fairly wide at the forefoot and tapers to an aggressive point; very little rubber on top.
- Suits
- Reviewers disagree: OutdoorGearLab found it great for slightly wide feet with a long big toe, Climbing House found it narrow, and 99Boulders' narrow-footed tester was happy. Best for big-toe-dominant (Egyptian) feet.
What climbers say
From independent reviews and buyers' feedback; each point is backed by at least two sources.
Strengths
- Among the best edging shoes available: stiff P3 platform plus hard XS Edge rubber
- Pointed toe excels in pockets
- Secure heel hooks thanks to thick heel rubber
- Durable and resoles well
Watch out for
- Little toe-top rubber and straps in the way make toe hooks poor
- Stiffness reduces feel on smears and sloping footholds
- Poor in cracks
- Not an all-day shoe; most people take it off between climbs
