London Climbing Centres grades, explained

London Climbing Centres (LCC) runs eight bouldering centres in London, each named after its area: VauxWall West and VauxWall East, BethWall, CanaryWall, CroyWall, EustonWall, HarroWall and RavensWall. The company began with the Lakeland Climbing Centre in Kendal in 1995, and VauxWall West was its first London centre. HarroWall and VauxWall East followed in 2018, RavensWall and CroyWall in 2019, CanaryWall and BethWall after 2020, and EustonWall in November 2022. One membership covers all eight, and registered climbers can walk in without booking.

Bouldering grades

Problems are identified by hold colour, and the start tags carry a V-grade, from 'Vintro' (for a first climb) up through V0, V1 and higher. Since June 2026, new climbs from V2 up are left ungraded for the first week after a reset, then their tags are flipped to show the grade. Grades are also listed in the Griptonite app.

The gym grades in V-scale directly. Here is the range gyms usually set, in Font:

London Climbing Centres uses this grading at all its gyms. From the gym's own grading guide. Gyms reset and regrade often, and grades vary between setters, so treat this as a guide and check the boards when you visit.
